Convert PDF to Markdown without uploading it

Turn the text of a PDF into clean Markdown, with tables as CSV, right in your browser.

How it works

Headings, paragraphs, lists, links, footnotes, images and simple tables are read from the PDF on your device and written as Markdown. Scanned pages can be read with on-device OCR when you ask for it.

Why use this tool?

No uploads, accounts, ads, or tracking. The processing engine runs locally on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. Pages without a text layer can be read with OCR on your device. The first time downloads a few MB of recognition data; check the result against the PDF, since OCR can make mistakes.

Are tables converted?

Ruled and simple aligned tables become Markdown tables and can be downloaded as CSV. Complex layouts keep their text in reading order.

Is the layout kept exactly?

No. Markdown keeps structure (headings, lists, links, tables), not fonts or positions. Compare with the PDF page by page to check.

Are files uploaded?

No. Files stay in this browser tab and are never sent to a server, whichever tool you use.

Is it free? Are there limits?

Free, with no account, watermark or daily limit. The only limit is your device's memory for very large files.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Every tool runs in modern mobile browsers. Very large PDFs can exceed a phone's memory; a computer handles those better.

Does it work offline?

Yes, for the tools you have used once online: the site keeps their files in the browser, so they then run without a connection.
